What is a biennial? How does it differ from annuals? Biennials have much in common with
annuals, but they differ in one major aspect. They take 2 years to complete their life cycle rather than annuals that take
only one year. Some examples of biennials are sweet william, and foxglove.
I have a problem with deer!! What are some things I can do that will make the deer go elsewhere
for dinner? Choosing plants for your garden that the deer do not normally have a taste for, is one thing you can do.
Examples of plants that deer avoid are boxwoods, night blooming jasmine,
junipers, oregano, sages, rosemary, elderberry, blackeyed susans, yarrow, butterfly weed, false indigo, lily of the valley,
larkspur, foxglove, lantana, cardinal flower, bee balm, dusty miller, lamb's ear, wisteria, zinnias, heliotrope, nicotiana,
coral honeysuckle. Hot pepper spray sometimes helps too. Sprinkling hair and soap around the border of the garden will help
for a week or two but normally the deer get used to it quickly.
